Menkaye Yeti came to our hospital 2 years ago for more training. Her grandfather, finally a dedicated Christian who died a few months ago was one of the murderers of the five missionaries in 1956. Menkaye was "the nurse" in her tribe; she sutured and dressed wounds, and gave out medicines. However, in a world of professional training and titles she needed more. Besides working with us we sent her to an official training program as nurse assistant. Six indigenous finished the curse and we celebrated with them at their graduation. The plan was that Menkaye would go back to her people, but the leaders decided she should stay with us to aid the emergency patients here. So our team becomes more international than it was before.
